About us
Wilfrid Smith Limited supply raw materials and chemicals throughout the UK, Europe and beyond.
We deliver over 24,000 tonnes of product per year from our centrally located warehouse in Selby, in lot sizes ranging from 1kg up to 24 tonne FCL’s.
The company is EN ISO 9001:2015 accredited.
History
The group was founded by Wilfrid Smith in 1927 and started trading in central London. In the early nineteen sixties the offices moved to new premises in Edgware.
Originally, the company’s main activity centered around the rubber industry. The acquisition of Bromhead and Dennison in 1991 led to Wilfrid Smith’s activities expanding within the Surface Coatings, Inks and Adhesives markets.
In recent years Wilfrid Smith has expanded and become a strong supplier to a wide variety of other industry sectors including, but not limited to: Personal Care, Plastics & Rubber, Coatings & Inks, Adhesives, Pharmaceutical, Textile, Paper, Horticulture and Health Food.
The company is privately owned following a management buyout in 1996. It was relocated to Oakley Hay in Northamptonshire, from where the company still operates to this day.

Wilfrid Smith Limited has closely followed the development and implementation of the REACH regulations. We have worked with our principals to ensure that all materials supplied were Pre-Registered and notified for CLP if required, by EU legal Identities.
We continue to communicate with our customers and principals on the use and sector codes needed for inclusion in the Registration Dossiers for our customers’ applications.
