Varichem is an established UK manufacturer of organic intermediates, fine and speciality chemicals and light sensitive materials with over 40 years of expertise since the company was formed.

Varichem Co Ltd is an independent UK manufacturer of fine and speciality chemicals. Founded in 1974, Varichem rapidly established itself as a leading manufacturer of diazos and couplers for the dyeline industry. Whilst maintaining a strong prortofolio of products for the graphic arts, Varichem now offers custom and toll manufacturing services from lab to semi bulk, to a diverse range of end users.

Production Plant

With 8000 litres total capacity, the facility consists of 14 jacketed reactors available in glass lined and stainless steel. Capacities range from 100 litres to 1350 litres making Varichem ideally suited to small and semi bulk manufacturing.

• Reactor services, temperature from -15ºC to 150ºC, vacuum and inert gas
• Filtration by centrifugation, vacuum filtration, pressure filtration
• Drying in tray oven, vacuum oven, fluid bed dryers
• Finishing with sieves, drum blender, mills
• Controlled warehousing including refrigerated storage
• Environmental considerations: waste minimisation, pH treatment, approved agents for disposal
• Safe handling of hazardous reagents including bromine, hexafluorophosphoric acid, hydrogen chloride, ammonia
• ISO 9001 Certified

Synthetic Laboratories

Fully equipped laboratories to perform multistep syntheses from grams to kilos. Special facilities to handle light sensitive materials. Equipment includes:

• Up to 20 litre glass vessels
• Heating/cooling with from -20ºC to 300ºC
• Vacuum to within 1mm
• Shear mixing
• Soxhlet continuous extraction
• 5 litre fluid bed dryer
• 20 litre rotary evaporator
• Vacuum oven
• Fan assisted oven

Analytical Laboratories

Analytical facilities include:

• FT-IR Spectrophotometry
• UV Spectroscopy
• HPLC/GPC/TLCChromatography
• Viscometry
• Densitometry
• Colourimetry
• Wet titrations
