Paris – La Défense, March 18 2019 – Safic-Alcan UK, a major distributor of specialty chemicals and subsidiary of the Safic-Alcan Group, announces that it has acquired 100% of Langley-Smith & Company.
Langley-Smith was established in 1907 and is a specialty chemicals distributor in United Kingdom, Ireland and mainland Europe, with a focus on adhesives, paint and coatings, polymer modification, road marking and rubber processing, inks and varnishes. It is also a significant player in the beverage, animal feed and detergency sectors. Langley-Smith is an excellent fit with Safic-Alcan’s existing operations.

The company was started by Harold Langley-Smith in London in 1907 and originally traded many natural chemicals of the day. Over the years importing raw materials and intermediates has expanded to encompass suppliers in Europe, the Americas and the Far East, having first imported from China in 1958.
