19 MARCH, AMSTERDAM: in-cosmetics Global has announced that a record number of new ingredients – 211 in total – from 163 companies will be showcased in this year’s Innovation Zone. Sponsored by Ashland, the Zone is home to the latest cutting-edge ingredients launched by some of the sector’s most forward-thinking, influential brands.

Suppliers including BIONAP, Croda Beauty Actives, Nanovetores, Jinbo Bio-Pharma, Eastman, Guangzhou Tinci Materials Technology Co., Sappi Biochemtech B.V., Nanjing Huashi New Material Co., PROVITAL, ALGAKTIV S.L., DSM Nutritional Products Europe AG and Lipotrue will highlight their latest developments for the first time on the global stage.

All ingredients in the zone will be contenders for the in-cosmetics Global Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award, with winners announced at the ceremony on 8 April 2025. Judged by R&D professionals from finished product manufacturers, the awards recognise excellence in both functional and active ingredient categories, celebrating the most pioneering advancements in the field.

Spotlighting innovation

Highlighting a new active ingredient, NanoSpun Technologies will showcase its Ultra & UltraBio Product Lines, which represent the next generation of skin treatment with live-active probiotic and postbiotic solutions. Uniproma GmbH will introduce ARELASTIN™, a recombinant humanised elastin designed to restore skin elasticity and combat ageing.

Cobiosa is set to highlight AQStem ATACAMA, a biotechnological active ingredient derived from the stem cells of Cistanthe grandiflora, an ephemeral plant that thrives in the Atacama Desert. Utilising advanced stem cell technology, it enhances the skin’s natural hydration by activating aquaporins and regulating water homeostasis at a cellular level.

Innovations in haircare will also be spotlighted in the zone, with companies such as Maian presenting innovations like Silike 556, a completely natural and sustainable alternative that delivers intense shine for hair care formulations.

In the functionals category, AE CHEMIE INC will showcase AECOTHICK® GKL, an innovative all-natural thickener, emulsifier and stabiliser that offers a plant-based alternative to synthetic thickeners. Derived from Gum Ghatti, Karaya Gum and Glycerin, this multifunctional ingredient effectively thickens clear, sulphate-free foaming formulations while delivering a smooth, non-sticky and non-stringy texture.

Nikko Chemicals will also present its NIKKOL NIKKOSOLVE® series of solubilisers designed to incorporate essential oils and fragrance blends into cosmetic formulations, delivering clarity and stability at lower concentrations without requiring alcohol. With a 100% natural-derived index and inherent biodegradability, it aligns with sustainable formulation trends within the wider cosmetics industry.

Roziani Zulkifli, Event Director at in-cosmetics Global, said: “We are thrilled to present a record 211 new ingredients this year, a true testament to the growing importance of our Innovation Zone. This year’s event is shaping up to be the most international yet, with exhibitors from all over the world unveiling their latest innovations here for the first time before they reach the market.”
